The short version: we don't sell your data or run ad trackers. We collect what we need to understand how the site is used and to send the alerts you ask for.

What we collect
When you visit
- We use PostHog, an analytics service, to learn which pages and sections people read, how visitors find us (for example a search engine, a Facebook group or a tagged link), and what they click. It records the pages you view, links and buttons you click, how far you scroll, your browser and device type, the page that sent you, and an approximate location (about city level) worked out from your IP address.
- PostHog stores a cookie or similar browser storage with a random ID so we can count returning visitors. It doesn't tell us who you are.
- We don't record your screen or what you type. If that ever changes, we'll update this policy before it does.
- Our host, Cloudflare, processes your IP address and basic request details to deliver the site and protect it from attacks.
When you contact us
If you email us, we keep your address and message so we can reply and keep a record.
When you sign up for alerts
Our email service, Kit, stores your address and whether you open or click our emails, so we can send alerts and see whether they're useful. You confirm your signup by email before we send anything.
How we use it
To run and improve the site, understand what readers find useful, send alerts you asked for, reply to you and keep the site secure. We don't build advertising profiles.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers that help run the site (PostHog for analytics, Cloudflare for hosting and Kit for alerts), under their terms. We don't sell or rent personal information. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
Your choices
- If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, our analytics don't collect data from your visit.
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works without them.
- Unsubscribe from alerts with the link in any alert email.
- Ask us to delete your email address or any data we hold about you: hello@palmarrish.com.
How long we keep it
Analytics data is kept for up to one year. Emails and alert signups are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
Children
Palmarrish is for a general audience and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you think a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Where it's stored
Our service providers store data in the United States.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and note significant changes on the site.
